Morning Music Notes – From a Dogg to a Lion
Snoop Dogg to Release Reggae Album as Snoop Lion
Everyone’s favourite pot smoking rapper is becoming a lion – Snoop Dogg will dip into the reggae world and release an album called Reincarnated (via Pitchfork). For lovers of Diplo and Major Lazer, we have good news – they produced a track that you can listen to right meow. See if Snoop Lion still has bite, in his reggae track below.
Stereophonics’ Drummer Leaves Band
Stereophonics have parted with another drummer – Javier Weyler has left the band (via NME). Following Stuart Cable’s departure in 2005, Weyler joined the band.
From the band’s Facebook.com page (where I’m guess Javier is no longer a fan of): “We wanted to let you know Javier and the band will no longer be working together. The band enjoyed playing with Javier over the last 8 years and his company was enjoyed by everyone in the Stereophonics family. We wish Javier every success going forward in his new creative endeavours and personal life. (Filling in temporarily for Javier on these next shows will be our friend Sam). We look forward to seeing you at the shows.”
Elton John Hits Top of UK Charts for First Time in 22 Years
I really wanted the headline to be “Rocket Man: Elton John Soars to top of the charts” but that sort of reeked of obvious puns. Instead, I tossed away a joke altogether and went factual. Sir Elton John has landed an album at the top of the UK charts (via Yahoo). The album is an electronic reworking of some of his hits, fooling younger generations into thinking there is a hip young artist.
