Coca-Cola Bringing Beatbox Experiment to 2012 London Olympic Games
The 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games had a massive Coca-Cola presence, including a dome in LiveCity in Yaletown, in which there were cool exhibits, as well as their sustainable PlantBottle, which was made with renewable and organic materials. There was also always long line ups – but visitors got a collectable Coke bottle that changed colours when you pushed a button. Coke is once again going to be at the Olympics, this summer in London, and they will have the Coca-Cola Beatbox (via Digital Trends). The Beatbox is an architectural experiment, which will pump out music throughout the Olympic park.
Fans (and non-fans I suppose) will be able to walk inside the stage (conceptually shown above), and touch the cushioned inside walls. These pillows will then trigger pre-recorded sounds, produced by Grammy winner Mark Ronson. Apparently Adele had better things to do. Now, given this description, this will either be a mess of noise, or something truly creative. Only one way to find out – read this blog in July (or perhaps check out the park for yourself, but that involves leaving the house).
The design was done by London archiects Pernilla & Asif. Pernilla Ohrstedt and Asif Khan, said: “As Londoners we are really excited to be a part of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Coca-Cola, a truly iconic brand, has believed in our practice’s creativity and vision to represent them at London 2012, taking our unique architecture to a global audience.”
