Watch a 3D Motion Capture Video of a Drum Solo
Hopefully the nerdy title didn’t put you off. Polish artist Odaibe used motion capture technology (think Golum in Lord of the Rings) to track the movements of the drum sticks during a solo, and then made a video based on their location over time (via Gizmodo). The solo is nothing that Meg White or Ringo Starr couldn’t pound out, but the combination of the somewhat hypnotic lines mapping out the drum sticks is rather cool. Watch the Portrait of the Ghost Drummer, and imagine what other cool things could be mapped out using motion capture technology over time.
