How to Halt An Orchestra: Leave Annoying iPhone Ringtone On
Anyone that attends the movies or orchestra should know the Golden Rule – turn off your bloody mobile phone. Hell, even vibrate would suffice in most cases. One man had his phone on at the New York Philharmonic and ended up grinding the production to a halt (via Digital Trends). Near the end of Tuesday night’s performance, a man’s iPhone, with that god-awful Marimba ringtone, went off. Unfortunately this man was in the FRONT ROW. Next, conductor Alan Gilbert stopped the orchestra, turned toward the crowd and asked audience members in the general vicinity to turn off the smartphone. For some insane reason, the phone kept ringing! People in the crowd yelled out things like “Throw him out!”, “Enough!” and “$1,000 fine!” The phone was eventually turned off. Apparently it wasn’t even a phone call, it was just the alarm going off! “Note to self: pick up car from valet parking.”
