Morning Music Notes – Buy Michael Jackson’s Stuff
For Sale: Michael Jackson’s Deathbed
Hot on the heels of Amy Winehouse’s dress and John Lennon’s tooth comes the sale of Michael Jackson’s deathbed (via Guardian). Only for the true freak super fan, I suppose. Would you actually sleep in it if you bought it?! Answer: of course
“The items were retrieved from 100 North Carolwood Drive, the house in California’s Holmby Hills where Jackson and his children lived from December 2008 until his death. Although the singer’s estate has forbidden auctioneers from using his name to advertise the sale, there are clues as to the provenance of the items, which include a Maurice Utrillo watercolour, Ludolf Bakhuizen paintings, a Louis XVI-style mirror, and a queen-sized bed.”
The auction will be held on December 17 – just in time for that last minute Christmas rush. “Surprise honey, I got us a new bed…..”
The Muppets to Host The Oscars??
Host Eddie Murphy has left his position of host of the Academy Awards. This comes after Brett Ratner resigned after his gay slur. Bizarre chain reaction of events aside, a fan campaign has been set up at Facebook.com/MuppetOscars (via NME).
“The Muppets’ screenwriter Nick Stoller has already lent his support to the campaign. He said: “I’d totally be on board. You could have The Electric Mayhem as the house band! As long and you’re not doing crazy, high production stuff.”
But he added that there are practicalities to consider: “The Muppets are a guy under a chair. You need a chair with a hole in it. If you try to do a big musical number, that’s where things start to get tricky. And the puppeteers are really good at improvising things if they need to do that.”
The Oscars take place on February 26, and will feature 3 hours of pre-show fashion shit that no one cares about.
Listen: Cee-Lo Green – Anyway
Lazy, or part of a broader strategy? Cee-Lo Green has released a “Lyric video” for Anyway. The video is simply the lyrics, karaoke styles. This is the same approach that he took for Fuck You, which became a huge hit, and then got a ‘proper’ video, as well as a Glee spot (under the family friendly name, Forget You). The song is co-written by Wallpaper and Rivers Cuomo from Weezer. Not sure how that came about. Check it out below.
