Morning Music Notes – Who Doesn’t Log Out of Facebook in an Internet Cafe? Idiot Thieves, Of Course!

London iTunes Festival Announces Jack White, Norah Jones, Usher, and One Direction

London’s Roundhouse venue will once again be the home to the iTunes Festival (via Gigwise). The festival will kick off on September 1, and will play host to a month of FREE concerts – free, if you win the lottery. I’ve only ever won 2nd prize in a beauty contest, and even that was on a Chance card from Monopoly.

Pop over to the iTunes Festival website for your chance to win tickets to see Usher play Sept 1, Jack White play Sept 8, Norah Jones to play Sept 10, or the little boy band that could, One Direction, play on Sept 20. You must be a UK resident, but if you’re a cute Swedish girl and want to use my address, you can apply for Jack White tickets and bring me along. More acts will be announced, unless Jack White decides to play 25 shows himself, which would also be a wicked festival.

The New Lead Singer of Velvet Revolver is….the Old Lead Singer, Scott Weiland – Maybe?

Velvet Revolver were looking for a new lead singer after Scott Weiland left the band. Scott Weiland told ABC News Radio that he is back with the band (via Consequence of Sound), rejoining Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members (from Guns ‘N Roses) Slash, Matt Sorum, and Duff McKagan. However, Slash is refuting this claim, meaning the messing divorce might remain messy. DRAMA!

Coachella Announces 2013 Dates, Will Remain 2 Weekends, and in the Hot as Hell Desert

Coachella just kicked off their first year of two, back to back weekends of identical line ups in April. The California rock festival is back for more, announcing that the 2013 festival will take place on April 12-14 and April 19-21 in Indio, California (near Palm Springs). This year saw the now famous Hologram Tupac, so hopefully next year we get to see some kind of black magic to bring back the dead for them to actually perform. Tickets go on sale Thursday at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern over at the official website.

Why Your Facebook Addiction Makes You a Bad Thief

I understand that we find out about many of our friends’ life events via Facebook these days. But if you’re robbing a place, do you really need to check Facebook THAT badly? Two men in Cali, Colombia were using an Internet cafe, then went up to pay, assaulted the cashier, and robbed him (via Digital Trends). However, they forgot to log out of Facebook. The police now had the name of one of the men, and promptly used the information to determine his address and arrest him. The suspect was confused by the “Karma is a bitch” posts on his wall by his new Facebook friend, the cafe owner.

Watch! Young Liars – Colours

Vancouver’s Young Liars have a new video for Colours (or so the liars would have us believe), taken from their Homesick Future EP (which you hopefully streamed on PeteHatesMusic). You’re probably wondering Why is Pete wearing a dress? where the video was filmed. Anyone? Well, Consequence of Sound tells us that it was filmed atop a very special kind of pedestrian bridge in Surrey, BC known as the “Pioneer Cycling and Pedestrian Overpass”. According to a press release, “Illuminated at night, the bridge’s lights are programmed according to the season and in some cases, passing traffic.” So what better place to film a video for a song called Colours? How about on a rainbow – bet they didn’t think of that! Watch Colours by Young Liars below.
