Morning Music Notes – Just What We All Need: A Paris Hilton Record Deal

Daft Punk Ready Random Access Memories Remix Album

Although they’ve just released their new album, Random Access Memories, Daft Punk have plans to release a remix of all of the tracks on the album (via Gigwise). The band have a remix of Get Lucky planned for June, and more will soon follow – all done by themselves and not others.

Thomas Bangalter told Peter Tong on BBC Radio 1, “We’re working on some mixes ourselves. So, yes, there will probably be Daft Punk mixes of Daft Punk. Usually, we never mix ourselves, that’s something we feel we’re interested in doing this time. The first track we’re remixing is ‘Get Lucky’. That will be out by the end of June.”

What Were You Thinking Lil Wayne – Paris Hilton Signs to Cash Money Record Label

Paris Hilton – where the fuck has she been lately? I remember the days when she was all over the new and tabloids and I wanted to drop kick her if I happen to ever run into her. Well, she’s out of the news, and my urge to drop kick her has subsided – until I heard that she plans to release more music. A few demos of her work leaked, including a track featuring Flo Rida and produced by David Guetta. Another track that leaked was a dreadful collaboration with Lil Wayne.

It should come as little surprise (except to our headline writer) that Paris Hilton has signed a record deal with Lil Wayne’s Cash Money label (via Gigwise). I can’t wait to hear the album! Is my sarcasm coming through the words on the screen, and perhaps dripping onto your keyboard?

Vampire Weekend Top Billboard Charts – Again

Assuming that you count XL Recordings as a true indie label (some haters don’t, as they have major label distribution via indie branches), Vampire Weekend are yet another indie band that have topped the Billboard Charts (via Hollywood Reporter). The band sold 134,000 copies of their new disc, Modern Vampires of the City. The band’s last album, Contra, also hit number 1 back in 2010. This is only the 19th independently-distributed album to hit number 1 on Billboard since Soundscan sales data begun in 1991. They would go out and celebrate, but they are poor, indie artists, and need to scrounge up and save for a new van to tour in.

Listen to a Couple of Arts & Crafts Collaborations

 Arts and Crafts X

As you probably know, Toronto indie label Arts & Crafts are celebrating their 10th anniversary. They are having an all-day festival in Toronto with Broken Social Scene and Feist and more, plus they are releasing a special collaborative album with the label’s artists. Two of the songs are now up: Still Life Still with Zulu Winter (who we interviewed way back when), and well as a soft song by Hayden and Jason Collett. The Still Life Still x Zulu Winter track is called Era, while the other track is called Lonely is As Lonely Does (which I suppose is the motto of bloggers).
