Morning Music Notes: Dear Chuck D…

Public Enemy mastermind and Hip Hop forefather Chuck D tweeted a letter he received from Tupac, part of a correspondence he and the late Hip Hop star had while Tupac was in prison in 1995. Lots of interesting stuff here (read more via Rolling Stone), but a few highlights:

  1. I will never complain about Tupac’s song titles using ‘2’ instead of 2, and ‘Z’ instead of s (Eyez). He did it EVERY TIME.
  2. Tupac hand-wrote intelligent letters with his peers, which I’m quite certain does not happen today, 19 years later.
  3. Kids these days…

Julian Casablancas’ new band (Julian Casablancas + The Voidz) are releasing a new album through their website on September 23, for $3.87.

 

The Foo Fighters are going to play their first ever South African shows in December. They’ll play 2 stadium shows in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and will be supported by Kaiser Chiefs and BLK JKS. Read more via NME…
