Morning Music Notes – The Game Before the Game

Kevin Drew plays Field Trip not once but twice this weekend. He headlines Sunday night with his Broken Social Scene gang. However, on Saturday, he’ll go it alone. One such song that he’ll play is featured below, in a great new Funny or Die video with Zach Galifianakis.

Kevin Drew - You In Your Were

The song is called You In Your Were, whatever the fuck that means. The video sees Zach tries to create a popular dance video, like Macarena or Gangnam Style. A few guests pop in along the way, including Feist, who gets a little cute and cozy with Kevin at times. Check it out below, and learn the dance moves in time for Field Trip on Saturday.

Interpol, who headline Saturday night at this weekend’s Field Trip festival in Toronto, have announced a brand spanking new album. It is called El Pintor, which just happens to be an anagram of Interpol. The album will be out in the fall, but maybe we’ll hear a few new tracks this weekend (if you’re reading guys, that was meant as a suggestive threat, not a random query). (via Interpol)

Beastie Boys have won $1.7 million from Monster Energy Drink for the company using their tunes in a promotional video. The boys sought $2.5 million but the $1.7M is nothing to sniff at. (via Pitchfork)

Beats by Dre was bought by Apple possibly to help make them cool again, or cool with a different crowd. To show you how cool is done, Beats made a World Cup ad, showing the Game Before the Game. It features tons of top soccer players, as well as a few guest spots from other athletes and celebs (Serena Williams, Nicki Minaj, and so on). Check out the 5 minute sprawling commercial below.
