Morning Music Notes – Doomed to Repeat It

The ink is barely dry, but Lyla Foy has just signed to Sub Pop. The Londoner will drop her debut album in 2014, but first – she will strip naked and run through Buckingham Palace release the Easy / Head Down single. Today, you get to hear Easy.

If you recall, before Lollapalooza became the Chicago-based, successful rock festival, it used to tour the country. This became unsuccessful after time, so they anchored in Chicago. Now, due to the success of the Chicago festival, they expanded into Chile. Now, they’ve extended this tour to Brazil and Argentina, creating a mini-tour of South America. Anyone else see history potentially repeating itself? That being said, the South American leg has a pretty sweet line up, including Arcade Fire, Nine Inch Nails, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, Pixies, and Phoenix. (via Lollapalooza)

Any clues what the most watched YouTube music video is so far in 2013? It’s Korean sensation, PSY! No, not Gangnam Style, but his follow up, Gentlemen. I know – never heard of it, either. The video for Gentlemen is currently the 7th most watched video of all-time on YouTube. (via Billboard)

Speaking of YouTube, their inaugural music awards show topped out at 220,000 viewers, which is when Lady Gaga took the stage. The event was streamed-only, and was not televised. Will the numbers warrant a second year show? (via Digital Music News)

Kanye West’s tour continues to slowly go up in flames – his Chicago shows on November 7 and 9 have been cancelled. Let’s hope November 12 in Toronto doesn’t get canned! (via Pitchfork)
