Friday Afternoon Funnies – Rolling Stones “Shreds”

Yes, this is a few years old. But it was new to me and a bunch of us from the Osheaga gang last week, so maybe it’s new to you. The phenomenon isn’t entirely new, but this is a creative and well-executed spin. Take a music video, expertly overdub both the vocals and the music, and make a hilarious new video out of it.

This treatment was applied to the Rolling Stones and Microsoft’s their track Start Me Up. Instead, we get hilarious lyrics and a ridiculous singing style, with a completely different musical track backing the song. The whole thing is outrageous and kills me. It also gives us a chance to look back and wonder a) what the fuck was Mick Jagger wearing in that video and b) what the fuck was Mick Jagger doing in that video? My goodness.

If you’ve never seen this before, you’re in for a treat. If you’ve seen it, then make a joke about how I’m old and slow – OR watch it again and laugh all over again. Enjoy something from the “shreds” series in this week’s Friday Afternoon Funnies.
