Gogol Bordello‘s former guitarist Oren Kaplan is suing band leader/singer Eugene Hutz for $950,000. Kaplan claims Hutz stole more than $500k from the bands funds and stole songwriting credits for a song the band recorded for a Coke commercial while he [Kaplan] was grieving for his deceased mother. The Katy Perry Machine has been outed for reselling its own tickets on the secondary market (scalping). A clause in KatyPerrytron’s tour rider has been pointed out on The Smoking Gun – stating that her tour management get to withhold floor seats to sell on secondary markets. This one will be interesting to debate in future articles… is this a scam to jack up ticket prices, or a tactic to flood supply and drive scalped ticket prices down? Discuss…

Although I’m quite sure every band/producer who has ever recorded an album has said the exact same thing, producer James Ford (of Simian Mobile Disco) has stated that ‘All bets are off’ on the upcoming Arctic Monkeys album. He also said a bunch of other things – like: “The band wanted to push things on and do something different;” “there was no brief other than to make an interesting album;” and “my job is to really try.”
