Morning Music Notes – Jimi 3000
Fans of Childish Gambino, rejoice – we have some new stuff. Fans of Community, be sad, as Danny Glover (aka Childish Gambino) wants to focus on his music career and is going to have a limited role on the show next season. That being said, we have a somewhat poppy rap track from Childish Gambino called Centipede. The track morphs from a capella, to piano sprinkles, to some bass kicking up the proceedings.

Spotify claims that music festivals increase piracy, especially after the festival. Of course they’d say that. Although I’m glad to hear that everyone else downloads bands immediately after a festival, too (via BBC)
Potentially good news Toronto/Ontario – new Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment boss Tim Leiweke wants to bring a music festival to the area. He’s already planning the Toronto Maple Leafs parade route, so a music festival should be a simple task (via Metro News)
Yesterday was the Toronto International Film Festival press conference, where they announced all the big flicks and stars who will be invading my lovely city from September 5-15. One such film is All is By My Side, which is the new Jimi Hendrix biopic starring Andre 3000 from Outkast. Judging by the press photo, he’ll look quite similar (via TIFF)
Solange has cancelled all of her European festival dates. Is she injured? No, but its family related – she wants to help her and her son’s transition to a new city and a new school for her son. Odd timing indeed (via NME)
Glassnote Entertainment, home to acts such as Mumford & Sons, Phoenix, and CHVRCHES in North America has expanded to London, UK. BBC Radio 1 producer Sam Rumney will be the director of the UK operations (via Hollywood Reporter)
