NXNE Critical Conclusions for We Are Wolves (North By Northeast 2013 Concert Review)

We probably shouldn’t have, but we skipped Fat Tony to enjoy some beers and fun in the sun out on Lake Ontario on the Bruise Cruise. The first act we ventured inside to see were We Are Wolves.

Venue: Bruise Cruise (out on Lake Ontario)

First Impressions: Not as sunny as outside. Weather aside, the band had a good groove, with some synth and fuzzy bass. No guitar, either. Some steady synth pop rock.

Stage Presence: They were headbanging to their music, and had good energy very fitting of the music. They also threw out the gem, “Thank you. We love boats” after the first song.

Random Observation: Flowery button up shirts is the band’s unofficial dress code.

Crowd Reaction: They liked it. We saw a few jumpers, a few dancers, and few movers and shakers

The Last Word: 8 /10 – Straight forward pop rock, with a danceable undertone. Couldn’t tell what he was singing for the life of me, but it was great for a boozy Saturday. Bonus: they ended with a Black Sabbath cover of Paranoid. Set the energy level for the next few bands on the bill.
