Morning Music Notes – 9 Year Avoids Jail for Her One Track Mistake

LED ZEPPELIN TO REUNITE….on David Letterman’s Late Show

To quote the Spice Girls, tonight is the night when 2 become 1. I’m not entirely sure how that quote fits in, but tonight will see the 3 living members of Led Zeppelin – Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones – visit the Late Show with David Letterman as it’s broadcast from Washington D.C. (via Rolling Stone). It is doubtful they will play, but let’s see what blackmail Letterman has lined up.

The band were in Washington D.C. randomly doing some sightseeing to get an award from President Barack Obama for the band’s contribution to American culture and arts. That’s also why Letterman was in Washington. Suck it, Jay Leno (unless he previously received the award – research is overrated). The band are promoting their one-off reunion show in England back in 2007 which is now out on DVD.

9 Year Old Illegal File Downloader Pays €300

A 9 year old girl in Finland had her laptop taken by police last month for downloading a song on the Pirate Bay. She was sent a letter asking for €600 ($780ish Cdn) to stop any legal action. Her father didn’t pay, then the girl’s (Winnie the Pooh) laptop was taken during a (ridiculous) police raid. The father has now paid a €300 settlement and everything is fine and dandy (via Slash Gear). I’m guessing this will come out of the girl’s allowance for the next 5 years – let’s hope the one Chisu song was worth it.

The Pirate Bay Expands The Promo Bay

In a somewhat related story, we told you about the Promo Bay and it’s relation to the Pirate Bay. The trials were a success and the Pirate Bay is expanding into a new website to help artists by telling them details such as where their content is being ILLEGALLY DOWNLOADED the most (via Hypebot). The Pirate Bay has some cheek – allowing illegal downloading of albums to take place, and helping artists who pay them by letting them know where this is happening. Interested artists can put their stuff up on the Promo Bay by visiting their website.
