Want a Band to Play in Your City? Crowd Funding Through Queremos Might Make It Possible

Sick of having musicians skip over Rio de Janiero, Brazil for world tours, some people decided to do something about it. What they did was kidnap their favourite singers form Queremos, a concert crowd funding concept (via Hypebot). The concept is as simple as our Tuesday Trivia (which you should watch out for later today). Designated “super fans” work with the band to promote the show through social media and even word of mouth by selling refundable tickets. If enough tickets are sold, the band plays and the super fans get to go for free. If not, then the band leaves your shitty city alone until the next album – or even forever.

A lot of shows were played in Rio over the past few years through Queremos, such as Beady Eye, LCD Soundsystem, and the Kills. For now, the site is only set up in Brazil, but they are pitching their idea at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in hopes of bringing it to the USA.
