Botanicus Interactus: A Gardener’s Wet Dream

Most times when I look at my plants, I think, “Why are you dying? Am I supposed to water you, or give you more tasty cheeseburgers?” Plants can’t talk, despite what the salesman tells you. I can’t say I’ve ever looked at my plants and thought “Can the electrical properties of plants be used to make music when I touch them?” Someone has thought this, and the answer is: no, so this post is pointless YES! Apparently Disney has researchers – who knew? – and they have come up with the ridiculous nerdy name of Botanicus Interactus, an interactive plant (via Dvice).

From what I can determine, you place a special wire in the soil of the plant, and the plant can respond to touch and make an associated sound or action on a computer. Amazingly, the device can determine how the plant is being touch and where it is being touched, and respond accordingly. If only there was a device like this for girls! Not only can Botanicus Interactus make music, but it can do other tasks, like turn pages on your digital calender. But don’t believe me – check out the video below.
