Privacy Concerns on Facebook? What’s next – Pete Doherty Going to Rehab?

If you use Facebook to discuss or brag about criminal activity (namely pedophilia), be warned: Facebook scans the chats and comments for illegal activity (via Digital Trends).

While it sort of makes sense, it is a huge violation of privacy. The story came to light when “internal scanning software” noticed a sexual conversation between a 13 year old girl and a man in his 30s. Oh, so that’s illegal now? Yes Pete, so stop doing it.

The software then notifies “real” Facebook employees, who then double check the illegality of the conversation. In this case, they notified the police. Amazingly, the police then took over the conversation (with the girl’s permission?) and placed an arrest within 24 hours. Amazing that pedophiles can get busted using their charm on Facebook but even more amazing that they have software for the police to step in. Because no one lies about their age on Facebook.

Weeds Brings Back Opening Song, Will Feature Ben Folds, Steve Martin and Hunter Parrish

After an oddly lame season 7 finale to the show, Weeds has returned for its 8th and final season last weekend. And everyone’s favourite theme song, Little Boxes, has been revived and will feature versions sung by Ben Folds, Steve Martin, and cast members Hunter Parrish and Kevin Nealon (via Billboard).

The song was originally written by Malvina Reynolds in 1962 about houses in San Francisco. I see the connection to drugs now! Previously, the theme had been sung by Death Cab for Cutie, Regina Spektor, The Shins, The Decemberists, and Elvis Costello, amongst others. This is apparently the most coveted gig around!

Only in America: Fan Sues Justin Bieber for Suffering Hearing Damage Due to Screams at His Concert

Imagine people did this when the Beatles were around? Stacey Wilson Betts has brought forth a $9.23 million lawsuit, after claiming her hearing was permanently damaged at a Justin Bieber concert in Portland, Ore (via Hollywood Reporter). It wasn’t the loud, quality tunes from Bieber that caused the problem – it was thousands of girls screaming. But Bielibe believe it or not – this is Bieber’s fault, as he “created a wave-like effect of screaming by pointing into various sections of the arena. Then enticed the crowd into a frenzy of screams by continuously waving his arms in a quick and upward motion.”

Not a quick and upward motion!!!
