Wireless Internet in Pavement, and Through Dog Poo Weigh Stations?!

As the Internet becomes more addictive (through sites like PeteHatesMusic, of course), people need ways to be connected all the time. We saw the somewhat controversial method of wireless internet being distributed through homeless guys at SXSW in Austin. Now, we have 2 addition and innovative methods.

The first is via a company in Spain, through what they call iPavement (via Technabob). iPavement consists of small, square tiles of pavement that can be placed in the ground, and they have hardware inside of them to allow both Wi-Fi internet and Bluetooth connections. Amazingly, the tiles have their own OS and can provide users access to apps – never go anywhere without Angry Birds! A useful app for travellers to the city (or for females in the city they are in) are maps of the city, as well as transportation maps. I personally would like an app of all the brothels in town – make it so.

Now we go from the practical and innovative, to the shitty – literally. Mexican company, Terra, have developed poo weigh stations in public parks and places (via Dvice). This seems like a bad idea, but stick with me. Now, if you put your dog’s poo (or even your own, I suppose) into the poo disposal, the immediate surrounding area gets Wi-Fi. That’s less dog crap and more Wi-Fi for all – win-win! The bigger the poo, the more Wi-Fi you get, which is a weird reward system, and one I wish my toilet benefited from. Now what’s stopping someone from throwing dead bodies in the weigh station and getting enough Wi-Fi for the next year?

There’s even a promotional video to go along with the poo Wi-Fi idea. It’s in Spanish, but you get the general idea.
