How Predictable: The Tragically Hip To Play Canada Day Shows; Death Cab for Cutie Join Them

Kingston rockers, The Tragically Hip, who recently had a street named after them, have announced a pair of shows on June 30 and July 1. They will play on June 30 at Niagara-on-the-Lake, and then Canada Day – July 1 – at Burl’s Creek, in Oro. Now you’re asking yourself, where the heck is Oro? Let’s just say “Ontario Cottage Country”.

The Hip have brought some guests with them. Death Cab For Cutie, The New Pornographers (featuring AC Newman, Neko Case, John Collins, Kurt Dahle, Todd Fancey, Blaine Thurier and Kathryn Calder), and The Rural Alberta Advantage will all play, too. This is a big year for Canada, as it’s the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. So ring in Canada Day with the quintessential Canadian band, and do whatever weird things Canadians do, like pronounce “about” funny, and end sentences with “eh” (eh?).
