Morning Music Notes – It’s Apple’s World, We’re Just Living in It

Apple’s iPad and iCloud Grow Like Crazy

Pretty sure crazy is a technical business term thrown around in the boardroom. Apple CEO Tim Cook told the crowd at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference that Apple has sold about 55 million iPads in the two years of release (via Slash Gear). To put this number in perspective, it took the iPhone 3 years to accomplish this, and the Mac computer, um, about 22 years.

Tim Cook also discussed how the iCloud – Apple’s online storage service – is doing. There are about 100 million users syncing stuff, which is up from the 85 million announced last month – that’s a lot of growth.

Another crazy stat (via Tech Crunch): Apple made $22 BILLION in revenue in developing world in 2011, and “just” $1.4 billion in 2007. The developing world here is considered China, parts of Asia, India, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Hey, I don’t decide these things.

Sony Says Sorry for Whitney Houston Price Gouging

As outlined in the PeteHatesMusic Whitney Houston summary, people were bitching about the price increase on some Whitney Houston albums following her death. Apparently Sony is to blame, not Apple/iTunes (sorry guys!). Initially, Sony raised the prices in the UK iTunes store from 4.99 pounds to 7.99 for Whitney Houston’s Ultimate Collection, and from 7.99 to 9.99 for Whitney: The Greatest Hits (via AllThingsD). Sony dropped the prices later on Sunday, and then offered this for an apology: “Whitney Houston product was mistakenly mispriced on the UK iTunes store on Sunday. When discovered, the mistake was immediately corrected. We apologize for any offense caused.”

Ah yes, a very convenient mistake, wouldn’t you say?

Nerdier Than Yesterday’s Infographic Marriage Proposal – Proposing in a Modified Video Game

If you didn’t catch yesterday’s infographic marriage proposal, you can check it out here. Sure, that might have been nerdy, but I’ve come across something that tops that. This one couple met while playing the video game Left 4 Dead. I don’t judge, but that in itself is pretty nerdier. But it doesn’t stop there. The male gamer had someone mod the video game to create a special map and level for them, and the guy virtually proposed to her (via Dvice). There isn’t much talking, but while it is going down, she wonders if its because in the game, she was carrying one of those Travelocity gnomes. Nope, it’s because you’re going to marry a nerd. She said yes (after a funny initial reaction).
