A Smartphone Made Out of Bamboo?

When people buy an iPhone, they wrestle with the decision whether they want it to be black or white (insert Michael Jackson joke). What if you had an obscure choice – bamboo. This isn’t an iPhone option, but it will be part of a limited release of smartphones, courtesy of Kieron-Scott Woodhouse and ADzero (via Dvice).

Woodhouse is a student here in the UK, at Middlesex University. He was toying with different phone materials when he was approached by ADzero, who discovered his portfolio. They wanted to try a bamboo exterior, which would make it sleek and elegant, yet also very light. Since the phone will likely be made and marketed in China, and since there is bamboo in China, alarm bells started going off and the idea was confirmed.
