Radiohead Contribute 14 (Old) Songs to The Island President Soundtrack

Good news: There will be a new soundtrack comprised of Radiohead songs! Bad (if you can call it bad) news: You’ve heard all of the songs before. Well, assuming you’re a super fan like PeteHatesMusic. The songs are all from their back catalogue (via NME). The movie is The Island President and is a documentary (boring!) about the Republic of Maldives and the difficulties that the president is going through to raise climate change awareness on the island. The documentary won Best Documentary at the Toronto Film Festival.

Radiohead singer (and objection of my affection) Thom Yorke also gave a message of support on the Radiohead website, and said “The Island President’ is a film about the Maldives, and the struggle of President Nasheed to get the voice of a small nation heard in the climate change debate. Unless something is done to stop rising sea levels they will lose everything. The country will be under water. Some of our music was used to help tell the story.”

But will your music stop the floods, Thom?
