Morning Music Notes – Just Boiling Some Agua

The National Debut a Couple of New Tunes

The National were in Toronto yesterday and playing the Air Canada Centre, a far cry from their previous, smaller engagements at the Kool Haus and Massey Hall. Before the show, the National played for Q1 LIVE, and they debuted songs I Need My Girl, and Rylan. No word if those will be on an upcoming album, but I’m a betting man, and I say bet on it.

Jay-Z to Play Carnegie Hall

On Feb. 6 and 7, instead of piano solos, Carnegie Hall attendees will hear the raps and rhymes from one Jay-Z, who will be the first solo hip hop artist to play the venue (via The Hollywood Reporter). Unlike Jay-Z’s Rocafella Occupy t-shirts, the proceeds of these concerts will go towards charities. However, one of the charities is suspiciously called Beyonce Baby Fund.

Tickets will range from $500 to $2500, and are geared towards the 1% corporations and rich dudes, until the public pre-sale happens on Jan. 30, with much lower prices. Jay-Z was mum on whether or not to expect Kanye West and other guests. If I paid $2500 for a ticket, I’d better see every rapper in the history of the genre!

White Girls Act Out Watch The Throne Lyrics

Speaking of Jay-Z and Kanye West, their collaborative album, Watch the Throne, has been interpreted by three white girls and worked into casual conversation. Watch how they work in the lyrics in the video down below (via Chart Attack).
