In other Radiohead news, the lads did some fundraising using their Kid A and Amnesiac guitars (via Guardian).

“Fender Telecaster signed by all five members of band being auctioned on eBay to raise money for Billie Bainbridge, who has brain cancer.”

“Radiohead have donated a guitar used on their albums Kid A and Amnesiac to raise money for a four-year-old girl with inoperable brain stem cancer.”

“The Fender Telecaster, signed by all five members of the band is being auctioned on eBay in aid of Billie Bainbridge, from Exeter, Devon, who was diagnosed in June. She travelled to America with parents Terri and Sam for pioneering treatment they hope will extend her life, although there is no conventional cure. The Billie Butterfly Fund is trying to raise £200,000 to fund the US treatment. It stands at £185,000, with the Fender Telecaster, played live until recently, attracting 54 bids, with the highest £6,600 as of Saturday.”

It should be noted that the guitars give the user magic powers, which enable you to make incredible albums.

Black Star to Release a New Album – Only Took 13 Years

The duo of Talib Kweli and Mos Def have announced a new album for their Black Star outfit (via Chart Attack).

The album will be out in 2012. That’s pretty much all the info we got! The guys did play a new track, Fix Up, on The Colbert Report recently. Okay, now THAT’S all the info we got.

Digital Album Sales Hit New High

It seems as if this computer and iTunes “fad” might be here to stay. Sales in 2011 have already beaten 2010, and this is before Santa Claus rolls into town (via Guardian). Note that this is in the UK, everyone else won’t give me the data I want. I guess my letter bomb requests did NOT work.

“Sales of digital albums for the year to date in the UK topped 21m copies in October, beating last year’s total even before the traditional Christmas boom.
Digital downloads now account for more than a quarter of total album sales, up from 17.5% in 2010, as Britons’ appetite for online music continues to defy a fall in overall music sales.

“Coldplay’s new release, Mylo Xyloto, broke the record for first week digital album sales last month, with more than 80,000 downloads, according to the Official Charts Company.”

“Digital sales of Mylo Xyloto, which accounted for 40% of total purchases last month, may have been boosted by Coldplay’s decision to withhold the album from popular streaming services, Spotify and Deezer.”

If you own a record store, it is time to diversify or die come up with some brilliant marketing, as sadly, you time might be up.
