Afternoon Music Notes

Welcome to another ‘guest editor edition’ of PHM’s Morning Music Notes – predictably late…

REM Calls it Quits, Tributes Begin:
Here’s a video of Coldplay covering ‘Everybody Hurts’. Pretty awesome, actually. I have completely forgotten how many huge songs R.E.M released, and how much that band meant to so many people. I was never a huge R.E.M fan, but they always did it with integrity, and seemed to do it for the right reasons. Respect.

Adult Swim Electronic Album Tracklist:
“TV Network” Adult Swim has been making some interesting inroads in new music of late. They are the home of OddFuture, and have recently released new music from the likes of Mastadon and El-P. Nest, they’re releasing an electronic album from some heavy hitters in the underground – including Burial, Kode9, and SBTRKT. Tracklist and clips after the jump.

New Music from Yuck:
Critical indie darlings Yuck (sorry – that sounds like a shot – they’re a very good band!) have released a new song today called Soothe Me. You like?

Pink Floyd Flies Pig over Battersea:
To celebrate some sort of album re-release, a pig was flown over Batterseas Station to re-create the cover of 1976’s landmark album Animals. Video after the jump

Sly Stone is Homeless?
I really thought he would be found dead first, but apparently, Sly Stone has been found living in a van in Los Angeles. He is currently in the process of suing his ex manager for $50million, and apparently has ‘hundreds’ of tracks for sale. I’d buy one.
