Fun with Graphs! How Often Do People Search for ‘Lyrics’?

When your favourite bands have vocals distorted, sing with marbles in their mouth, sing in falsetto, or rap extremely fast, it is hard to determine exactly what they are saying. This is of course of vital importance when coming up with your yearbook quote or Facebook status. It turns out you are not alone – in fact, people search for ‘lyrics’ as much as they do ‘sex’ (via Digital Music News). Apparently my daily curiosity about this ‘sex’ fad I’ve heard so much about has barely made a dent in the results.

Courtesy of Paul at Digital Music News, below are a couple of graphs. The first shows the relative number of searches for lyrics (blue line) versus sex (red line). The second graph adds Spotify, mp3, and iTunes to the chart for additional comparison purposes. PeteHatesMusic is off the charts, presumably in a good way.
