Morning Music Notes – Google Has A Music Blog. Pfft, It’s No PeteHatesMusic….
Welcome to Google Magnifier – Music Blog
Google was originally known for being an internet search engine, but now has Street View maps and cars that drive themselves. Focus is not their strong point. Dominating whatever they put their minds to seems to be their strong point. Well, their next realm of domination is to be the music world. Yesterday, Google launched Magnifier, which is a blog that features music. The site will offer free downloads, videos, images, interviews, songs of the day, exclusive live sets and recommendation. Sort of like a Mickey Mouse version of PHM essentially
“Sometimes it will be new artists we think deserve more attention,” described Google head of Music Programming Tim Quirk. “And sometimes there will be video interviews and live performances.” For those Google users who use Music Beta, you are in luck. “You can add any or all of the songs to your Music Beta library instantly,” Quirk continued.
Check out the Magnifier blog for yourself to see if it’s cool.
Will Smith to Make (C)Rap Comeback!
Will Smith is to make a rap comeback, which has shattered my dreams of a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air movie. Will Smith himself hasn’t said anything, it was hip-hop producer La Mar “Mars” Edwards who claims Will Smith is working with him (via Guardian).
“We’re working on Will Smith, bringing him back,” Edwards told XXL. He was busy talking about Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, and the Game, whose new album he co-produced, when Smith’s name came up. “That’s actually [Will] on the other line right now,” he said.
While Will has been stagnant for 6 years, his daughter Willow has been cranking out the ‘hits’, including last summers Whip It. Duet anyone?
So, does Big Willy still have what it takes to make it in the rap world? Or is his lack of street cred, goodie-goodie image and movie career going to deride any legitimate credit he may deserve?
And while you ponder that, check out a classic Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff track below.
