Morning Music Notes – The Word of the Day is Rumours

Everyone loves a good rumour. Previous rumours of a September release date for the iPhone 5 have been moved up to August; August 16 to be exact. Why is that? Well, Slashgear notes that job ads in the UK that Apple will need a few good people for that date and a few months afterwards. Why, that MUST mean the iPhone 5 is launching then!

From Rock Star to SWAT Team Stand Off

Not to be one to judge (hey, I’m a blogger – we don’t judge), but going from ‘bassist of an awesome rock band’ to something along the lines of ‘arrested in SWAT team stand off’ just does not look good on the Wikipedia page. The Guardian reports that former Queens of the Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri has been arrested after a five hour stand off with the SWAT team. Nick (the guy with the crazy devil-esque goatee) and his partner got into a domestic, and police were called, and Nick refused to meet with them. Coincidentally, it is rumoured (here we go with the rumours again!) that Josh Homme originally kicked Nick out of the band in 2004 because of alleged (aka RUMOURED) threats of violence from Nick to his then girlfriend.

Make Music With Your Hands – and ONLY Your Hands

From Gizmodo, comes these music-making gloves, equipped with accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope, wireless mics and a bunch of other sensors. You can create musical loops by shifting your hands or moving your arms. Can you say “new vacuuming soundtrack”??

Lil Wayne Mixtape – Come and Get It

The mixtape is not actually called come and get it; perhaps that is just a poor headline. Also, mixtape is one word – my spellchecker ain’t wit it. Consequence of Sound has news on Lil Wayne and his latest mix tape, Sorry 4 the Wait. Download it here, via DatPiff.

Ha! I love the support from the band, which focuses on pumping up the future crowds and distancing themselves from their bassist

“We are surprised to say the least and will address the situation with Michael after the tour. For now, we just want to have a great time out here and finish with some killer shows in Boston, Poughkeepsie, Quebec City and Halifax.”
