What’s in a Name: The Drums – Portamento

The Drums have revealed to NME, via Dirrtymusic.com, that the band are naming their second album Portamento. While this sounds like a mix between a mushroom type and a pimento, it is actually a musical term for moving from one note to another. Why is this relevant? Why is ANYTHING relevant? The answer to the first question is that the band fought like hobbits in the war of Middle Earth while making the second album (yes, I just did a Lord of the Rings reference).
